Treatment for Opiate Addiction
Learn More About the Treatment We offer for Opiate Abuse
Opiates are a group of tightly-controlled narcotic pain medications that are used for, in addition to other things, managing moderate-to-severe pain. Often touted as a “miracle drug,” by those living in chronic pain, opiates are derived from parts of the poppy plant and often prescribed under the names “OxyContin,” “Vicodin,” Percocet,” “morphine,” “fentanyl,” and “oxycodone.”
In addition to the pain-relieving qualities of opiates, narcotic painkillers provide users with a sense of overall well-being and pleasure that can be addicting to some who use the drugs. While most people in Georgia who are prescribed opiates take the drugs as directly prescribed by their physician and do not find themselves in need of rehab at a treatment center, some individuals begin to take opiates in order to relieve emotional pain and stresses in their lives. Often, these individuals take higher amounts of opiates to achieve the same effects. Unfortunately, these high doses of opiates can lead to such health consequences as death from respiratory or cardiac arrest.
As the addiction deepens, an opiate addict begins to obsessively fixate on the drug, obtaining more opiates, getting high from opiates, and recovering from opiate binges. As this happens, all other areas of life begin to suffer – social obligations are not met, home life crumbles, relationships are strained, work or school begins to suffer as the addict sinks further down the rabbit hole.
Addiction to opiates is a serious problem that can lead to serious complications in all areas of an addict’s life. You may feel like you’re unable to climb through the black hole and face the light. It’s time to get the rehab you deserve and face your addiction. Let the experts at our treatment center help you out of that black hole of addiction once and for all.
